Criticism without constructiveness, intent to produce a positive result, nor a clear explanation of both what it is that might be modified (at the artist's discretion) and why, is simply mindless bitching by those who cannot do any better and yet are self-important enough to think they were in the right to say anything to begin with. I see a lot of this mindless complaining, but not much in the way of constructive criticism. "Why did this get a DD"? Because someone submitted it for such, and clearly it was approved. WOW. COMPLICATED REASONING THERE.
As others mentioned, this is a very nice picture for its contrasts and simplicity. It catches the eye. I like it. People who don't really don't have to look at it.
I don't mind the picture, I'm rather fond of it, but some part of me doesn't really know why this is a DD. I understand what it could be interpreted as, but personally I just see a simple picture with contrast |D Not hating on the photographer, just not understanding the DD.
...Unique because I think most people have the self respect not to upload stuff like this. Stuff like this pains me everytime I open deviant art. There's no if's, and's, or but's, this is spitting in the face of anyone who spends more than 10 minutes on a piece of artwork. It's bad enough how many views and favorites it's gotten, but a DD too? Really? And, yeah, narrow mind. I swear to God, you people could find artistic meaning if I took a shit on some random piece of furniture, made it sepia, and uploaded it. I guarantee it would probably be my most favorited piece of artwork.
Excuse me but I was stating my opinion of this piece. It's not my fault your not able to see the artistic ability in this. Your just coming across as really rude. Even if you didn't think this should have gotten have gotten a DD - us it really necessary to comment? No. stop being rude and if you don't like it don't comment, simple as that
This really caught my attention when I was scanning the DD page, I don't know why. Maybe the contrast, or I just like blank space...normally I really, really, really hate feet/shoe photos, but there's something about this one that I really like. It's so odd that I see the stages of life (young adult, motherhood, grandmother) from right to left here for some reason.
I think if you look hard enough at art you can, usually, find a meaning to it. Congrats on the DD.
But yes, opinions and tastes are one thing, but taking out your disagreement on it being selected as a DD on the artist is another. The artist doesn't get to pick whether they get a DD or not, that's not up to them. There's an entire section on this in the dA rules. If you're critiquing the piece, sure, that's fine. But flat-out saying things like THIS DOESNT DESERVE A DD or things like that are completely disrespectful.
I agree with you! People think that a DD has to have a lot going on in it like it has to be all jazzy and stuff when in reality, it really doesn't. Sometimes, simple is best and I really like this piece, too ^^
Okay, despite all negativity, this is the kind of photo that you can let your mind wander about. We all have no idea what you were thinking about it, but we can look at it and see our own story. Great job. Keep it up.
